About the founder

Where change management meets lived experience

Founder Janel Woodard built The Working Partnership at the intersection of enterprise-grade change discipline and a deeply personal understanding of what families of neurodivergent students need from their child's school.

The story

The discipline of change, applied to the relationships that matter most

For years, Janel led communications and change management for large, complex organizations — helping people navigate significant transitions and build the trust that makes change stick.

Then she became a parent of a neurodivergent child and experienced the other side of the table: sitting through IEP and 504 meetings, navigating the communication between a school and a family doing their best.

The two experiences converged into a clear observation. Schools and families genuinely want the same thing for the student — but the communication systems around them often break down. That breakdown is not a compliance problem. It's a communication and change-management problem.

The Working Partnership exists to bring rigorous, non-clinical, non-legal discipline to that relationship — and build it into a genuine, working partnership.

A personal note

"I built this practice because I've sat on both sides of the family-school relationship. My work is grounded in one belief: when communication is clear and partnership is real, students — and the people around them — thrive."
